Mayor of Retford and local dignitaries visit Jamia Al-Karam

On 8 July 2017, the Mayor of Retford, Cllr Helen Richards, and former Chairman of Bassetlaw District Council, Cllr Jim Anderson, visited Jamia Al-Karam at Eaton Hall and met with the Founder and Principal, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, and the Vice-Principal, Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari. On this occasion, a beautiful rose bush that had been presented to Jamia Al-Karam was planted in one of the lawns on site.

Previously, on 23 June 2017, the guests attended Jamia Al-Karam during the final days of the month of Ramadan and joined in a community Iftar hosted by Shaykh Pirzada. Other guests on that occasion included Rick Brand (Bassetlaw Christian Heritage), Wendy Quigley (former Mayor of Retford); Rev Sue Caddy (All Hallows Church, Ordsall); Rev Bill Bergin (Catholic Church of Retford); Rev Angela Morfett-Jones (Elkesley Group of Churches); and Canon Tony Walker (St Swinthon’s Church). A detailed presentation on the works of Jamia Al-Karam and its related projects across the country was presented by Bakhtyar Pirzada al-Azhari, which was followed by a meal after sunset. Members of staff; Maulana Gul Muhammad, Maulana Mushtaq Hussain and Ustadh Jamil Akram also welcomed the guests and participated in hosting the community Iftar.
