On 25 May 2017, senior graduate of Jamia Al-Karam, Ansar Basir Hussain, was elected as Mayor of Wolverton Town in the city of Milton Keynes, after having served as Chairman of the Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council for the past three years. Jamia Al-Karam extends its congratulations and well-wishes to the learned Cllr Ansar Hussain, as he continues with his remarkable work in serving the local community.
Cllr Ansar Hussain was amongst the first five students of Jamia Al-Karam who began their studies in 1985 with the Founder and Principal, Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada, in Milton Keynes. Upon completing his studies at Jamia Al-Karam, he travelled to Pakistan in 1988 to pursue higher Islamic studies at Dar-ul-Uloom Muhammadia Ghausia Bhera Sharif, under the tutelage of the Ummah’s Luminary, Justice Pir Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari (ra). Upon returning to the UK, Cllr Ansar Hussain served for a while as a teacher of Islamic sciences at Jamia Al-Karam in Milton Keynes.
In 1997, Cllr Ansar Hussain graduated from the De Montfort University Milton Keynes having completed BSc in Business & Computer Sciences. Later he embarked on his work in public service and has played a vital role in Wolverton & Greenleys Town Council sitting on various committees and working groups. He has also been appointed as Director at the Greenleys Achieve Academy Trust, having served as Governor of the Greenleys Junior School from 2009 to 2013. In addition, Cllr Ansar Hussain is the General Secretary of the Milton Keynes Pakistan & Kashmir Welfare Association, a role in which he has served for the past two years.
