It was a humbling day at Jamia Al-Karam today with a graduation ceremony filled with gratitude and reflection. Students completing their six years of study at Jamia Al-Karam, in particular undergoing the first ever intensive and wide-ranging one year programme leading to the Higher Diploma of Specialisation in Islamic Law graduated today. In addition to the Principal and teachers of Jamia Al-Karam, the ceremony was also attended by Allama Sahibzada Ghulam Jeelani, Allama Mufti Ayub Ashrafi, Qari Muhammad Ali, and other guests.
The Higher Diploma (Al-Takhassus fi’l-Fiqh wa Usulih) began in September 2018 and comes at the end of Jamia Al-Karam’s Foundation Diploma (3 years) and Advanced Diploma (2 years). Students of this historic first programme have spent this final year in intense study of the classical and contemporary legal framework of jurisprudence within the Islamic tradition, while being trained in the practical manifestation of that framework. Students have had the opportunity to put into practice and utilise the numerous traditional sciences and skills they have learnt over the years at the institution whilst understanding contextual relevance and methodologies of relation.
The students will now continue to Egypt this Saturday and pursue a specialist bespoke course designed for them at Al-Azhar University, in order to enhance their level of understanding and experience.
